Know Your Rights: Staying Informed Saves Lives

The COVID-19 pandemic has revealed the need for community mindedness and collaboration more than ever before.

While we have all experienced the challenges of isolation, business and school closures, sickness, and loss of loved ones, national data has widely demonstrated that COVID-19 has disproportionately impacted the health and wellbeing of People of Color; especially Black, Indigenous, and Latino/Chicano/Hispanic communities.

A 2021 analysis found that in New Mexico, the number of COVID-19 cases in a zip code positively correlates with certain socioeconomic disadvantages. The inequalities faced by Communities of Color in terms of access to healthcare and prevention resources, combined with the misinformation circulating about vaccine facts and safety is discouraging people from seeking preventative healthcare and engaging in conversations about how to protect each other and move forward. Now, going into the third year of the pandemic, economic hardships experienced by Bernalillo County’s most vulnerable residents have increased. The Our Humanity Project is developing a Know Your Rights Campaign in accessing COVID-19 vaccinations and resources.

Choose Wisdom. Choose Strength. Choose Humanity.

Our Humanity understands the need for collective impact to address the issues affecting us all. Our goal is to create supportive bridges to access COVID-19 vaccinations, COVID-19 Home Test Kits, masks, and other COVID-19 resources and engage the community around COVID-19 awareness and education.
